Accessibility Statement
Built so everyone can see themselves clearly.
Last Updated: May 6, 2026 | Version 1.1.1The Observing Ego is committed to making mental health tools usable by everyone, regardless of ability. We design our iOS app and this website with accessibility as a core principle, not an afterthought. Mental health support should never be gated by interface barriers.
We target conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA for the website, and we follow Apple's Human Interface Guidelines for accessibility on iOS.
1. iOS App Accessibility
The Observing Ego app supports the full range of iOS accessibility features:
- VoiceOver — complete screen reader support with descriptive labels and hints on every interactive element, including the mood meter, emotion picker, and assessment instruments.
- Dynamic Type — text scales smoothly across all iOS sizes, from xSmall through the largest accessibility sizes (AX1–AX5). Layouts reflow without truncation.
- Reduce Motion — all animations and transitions respect your iOS Reduce Motion setting. Bouncy and parallax effects are disabled when the system flag is on.
- Increase Contrast — color choices meet or exceed WCAG 2.1 AA contrast ratios in both light and dark modes.
- Bold Text — typography adapts to your iOS Bold Text preference.
- Touch Targets — all interactive controls meet Apple's 44×44 point minimum.
- Voice Control and Switch Control — the app is navigable end-to-end without requiring touch gestures.
2. Website Accessibility
This website (myobservingego.com) targets WCAG 2.1 Level AA conformance. We use semantic HTML, support full keyboard navigation, provide alt text on meaningful images, and ensure adequate color contrast in both light and dark themes.
3. Known Limitations
Accessibility is an ongoing process. We test the app and website with real assistive technology, but we know perfect coverage is impossible. If you encounter a barrier we haven't addressed, we want to hear about it — please use the contact information below.
4. Reporting an Accessibility Issue
If you encounter an accessibility barrier in the app or on this website, please contact us at info@myobservingego.com with a description of the issue, the device or assistive technology you were using, and the page or feature where the barrier appeared.
We aim to acknowledge accessibility reports within 5 business days and to address verified issues in our next reasonable app or website update.
